About

Nathan Ben-Yehuda has gained notability as a pianist, arranger and composer for his proficiency in a wide array of genres and different keyboard instruments, as well as his impassioned and probing performances. In his home base of Los Angeles, he is a member of the dynamic chamber orchestra Delirium Musicum, where he contributes on synthesizer and harpsichord. He is also a member of Astral Mixtape, a four-piece ensemble who perform original music and arrangements, evoking a myriad of musical styles. Performance highlights of the last year have included an Eastern US tour with Delirium Musicum, a performance with Symphony New Hampshire of Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 2 under the baton of Tian Hui Ng, a concert tour of the US as a guest artist with Trio Gaia, and an artist residency with Astral Mixtape at Chamber Music OC in Lake Forest, CA. His performances have been broadcast on WQXR radio in New York, BBC Radio 3 “In Tune”, WMHT Radio in Albany, and Musiq3 TV in Belgium as a competitor in the 2021 Queen Elisabeth Competition.

Nathan has defined his career with his dedicated advocacy of new music. He has worked closely with some of the eminent composers of our time, such as George Lewis, Kaija Saariaho, Oliver Knussen and Thomas Adès. He has held a fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center, where he performed in a variety of new music and chamber music groups, and took part in a complete performance of Olivier Messiaen’s Catalogue d’Oiseaux alongside pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard, and performed Nancarrow Studies on two pianos with composer/pianist Thomas Adès. He is a member of the contemporary music ensemble Victory Players based in Holyoke, Massachusetts, whose work has focused on amplifying the voices of BIPOC composers of our time. Since joining the ensemble in 2019, they have premiered over 40 new works written for the Pierrot + Percussion instrumentation.

Nathan is currently on faculty at California Lutheran University, where he is professor of piano, music theory, and chamber music. He received his Masters in Music from The Juilliard School in New York, and is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London.
